More about the farm...

Brazil

Minasul, a well-established cooperative in southern Minas Gerais, representing a broad network of producers across one of Brazil’s most important coffee regions. The cooperative brings together a wide range of farm types and microclimates, supported by practical agronomic guidance and well-developed processing infrastructure. This combination allows for coffees that are not only consistent year after year, but also capable of expressing the subtle variations of the region with clarity.

Uganda

Agri Evolve is a Ugandan agribusiness founded around 2015–2016 and operating as a “profit for purpose” company, meaning they focus on both commercial success and social impact. They are based mainly in the Rwenzori region in Western Uganda. The company works with a network of more than 15,000 smallholder farmers, many of whom are Rainforest Alliance certified, and they export roughly 3,000 metric tons of coffee each year. Their goal is to improve farmer livelihoods by investing in infrastructure, offering agronomy training, providing access to inputs, ensuring transparent pricing, and building traceability into the supply chain through digital tools. They emphasize sustainability, social development, and environmental care, and in 2023 they achieved B Corps certification, which recognizes high standards in these areas.

Although their marketing tends to highlight specialty Arabica from the Rwenzori mountains, they also handle Robusta coffees. In Uganda, Robusta is a traditional staple crop grown widely at altitudes of about 1000–1300 meters, often intercropped with bananas, beans, or maize. Screen size grading refers to the physical size of the bean, and Screen 15 means the beans have been sorted to a specific diameter—15/64 of an inch—making them medium-sized, uniform, and easier to roast consistently. Robusta Screen 15 from Uganda is generally processed using the natural method, meaning cherries are sun-dried whole on patios or raised beds for two to three weeks before hulling. The dried beans are then sorted, graded, and cleaned, with export moisture content typically around 11.5–12 percent.

Colombia

Hulia Reserve is a mixed-lot from small producers in the greater Huila region. With plots less than two hectares, means greater care has been taken in the cultivation and processing stages. Expect flavours of citrus zest and caramel, a beautiful smooth mouthful and a lingering sweet chocolate finish.
